USC Sumter Opportunity Scholars Program (OSP) Jump Start Students volunteered their time to help feed the hungry as part of a larger operation that served nearly 100,000 needy residents. Jump Start students take an intense University 101 course to get ahead of their studies in the fall. Community service projects are a part of the U101 class and a part of OSP.
Professor Kris Weissmann's Early College University 101 class volunteered their time to clean up Benton Park on Monday, July 31. Located near the University of South Carolina Sumter, Benton Park is a neighborhood park the university "adopted" several years ago. Student groups donate their time to maintain the park by pulling weeds, raking, cleaning up debris and picking up trash. Keeping the park clean makes it easier and safer for neighborhood children to take advantage of the swings and open green spaces the park has to offer.
Four hundred and thirty eight (438) graduates received their bachelor's degrees and were welcomed as alumni on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Fayetteville State University's 150th Spring Commencement Ceremony held in the Crown Coliseum.

Coastal Carolina University has announced that 745 students made the President's honor list for high academic achievement for the 2017 Spring Semester. To qualify for the President's List for high academic achievement, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average and must be enrolled full time.
The Class of 2017 includes 93 men and women who are now America's newest military officers serving in the U.S. Army.

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, honored the following students with Gold Stars for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2015-2016 academic year. Gold Stars are awarded to students that achieve a 3.7 grade point average or higher. Students that achieve Gold Star recognition are also placed on The Citadel's Dean's List.
Congratulations Silver Medallion Winners! To qualify for inclusion, students must have completed at least 30 hours at a University of South Carolina campus with a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00, and have achieved a 3.5 - 3.94 grade-point average for the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters while being registered each semester for 12 or more hours on the Sumter campus, of which at least six hours must be USC Sumter courses.
University Ambassadors represent USC Sumter both on and off campus. The core duty of this organization is to assist with new student orientation (SOAR), but Ambassadors also provide campus tours for prospective students and accompany the USC Sumter Admissions staff to various high school recruitment events.
More than 50 USC Sumter students received merit scholarships.
